Hanging Heaton school

It was such a wonderfully fun experience to visit Hanging Heaton Primary school and see their new reading den.

Going into schools can be quite daunting because as an author, there’s a lot of pressure to present the idea of reading as a joyous thing to do. These days, kids are so focussed on screens that books are often not a thing that they would choose to indulge in.

At Hanging Heaton school, the children were so engaged and fascinated by the concept of my pet sheep so they were automatically interested in hearing my stories about them.

It’s so heartening that the teachers at that school are making such a huge effort to bring books into the lives of their pupils which will stimulate their imagination and open so many creative doors for them.
